Denounce the bombing of
the Iraqi Shiite mausoleum
plotted by the Bush Empire!

A powerful explosion shattered the golden-domed mosque in Samarra, one of the four holiest sites for the Iraqi Shiites, on February 22nd. The gleaming dome, topping the mausoleums of Imam Ali al-Hadi and Imam Hasan al-Askari, has been reduced to a shell of brown masonry. The perpetrators, armed with guns and clad in Iraqi military uniforms, broke into the mosque to detonate explosives at 7:00 a.m.

Blowing up a mausoleum is a hideous crime no Muslim can commit. Holy sites have enormous significance for Muslims, particularly for Shiites. We, the Japan Revolutionary Communist League (Revolutionary Marxist Faction), declare that this bombing was nothing but an imperialist state conspiracy, organized by the Bush administration, to prevent, at any cost, the Shiite-led formation of an 'Iraqi permanent government' (an anti-American government based on 'national reconciliation' between Shiites, Sunnites and Kurds). By using its CIA and DIA operatives, US power-holders tried to provoke sectarian conflicts between Shiites and Sunnites, instigating them to a civil war.

Burning with indignation, we denounce this plot, an all too transparent plot, perpetrated again by the Bush administration, which is now cornered into a dead end.

We also alert the whole world! 'Out of revenge' for the mausoleum bombing, over a hundred Sunnite mosques have been set on fire, Sunnite clerics assaulted. On the day of the incident, armed men in police uniforms seized 11 Sunnite rebels from a well-guarded prison in Basra and killed them. Obviously, these attacks are also conspiracies, in which CIA and DIA agents incited angry Muslims to a fratricidal war by taking advantage of disagreements between Shiites and Sunnites over the initiative for a new government.

The bankrupted falsehood of 'al-Zarqawi's crimes'

Immediately after the incident, the Bush administration started to circulate a story that the explosion was committed by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, a 'travelling jihadist' leading his 'al-Qaeda organization in Iraq'. President George W. Bush stated: 'The terrorists in Iraq have again proven that they are enemies of all faiths and of all humanity'. More specifically said Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice: 'The only people that want a civil war in Iraq are the terrorists like al-Zarqawi'.

Shame on you! As the JRCL already revealed, the so-called 'al-Zarqawi's blueprint for terror in Iraq' (released in February 2004) is a complete fabrication by the hands of the CIA. The stretched reference to the name of al-Zarqawi again today is undeniable evidence that the true perpetrators of the bombing are US imperialists themselves.

Right after the incident Iraqi leaders blamed it one after another as 'a conspiracy aimed to instigate Iraqis to a civil war' and stressed the need for 'the unity of the Iraqi people'.

The Iraqi Shiite clerical leader, Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani, issued a statement: 'the extent of the sorrow and shock of believers should not drag them into taking actions that serve the enemies who have been working to lead Iraq into sectarian strife.' Moqtada al-Sadr, a radical cleric leading his Mahdi Army, drew back a revengeful tone in his immediate response to the incident ("We will not only condemn and protest but we will act against those perpetrators") and voiced on the next day (February 23rd) from the Iranian holy city of al-Qum he visited: 'My message today to the Iraqi people is to show solidarity and not to fall prey to projects aimed at compromising the unity of the country.' 'We are brothers in Islam and peace.'

Sunnite leaders also issued their statements: 'The Samarra attack was not planned by Sunnite insurgents but a foreign hand aiming to create differences among Iraqis' (Sunni politician Adnan al-Dulaimi); 'We strongly condemns this sinful act and calls for a wide-reaching and objective investigation to catch those behind this crime that aims to harm the Iraqi people by provoking destructive sectarian strife (The Iraqi Islamic Party). Iraqi President Jalal Talabani (Kurd) clearly said: 'There is a conspiracy against the Iraqi people to spark a war among brothers.' 'We will not allow this.' 'The attackers were trying to sabotage attempts to form a coalition government.'

Thus the wicked scheme of Bush to plunge Iraq into a civil war has gone bankrupt in an instant.

The Bush administration irritated with the Iran-led formation of an anti-American front

Two days before the Samarra bombing (on February 20th), US ambassador to Iraq Zalmay Khalilzad warned Iraqi Prime Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari that Iraqis should 'form a government in which non-sectarian figures control the army and police,' and 'American will not continue to support institutions run by sectarian groups with links to militia'. By giving this threatening message to al-Jaafari, the candidate for a prime minister of a new government nominated by the Shiite coalition (United Iraqi Alliance) preponderant in the National Assembly, the US ambassador tried to push those American cat's paws, Iyad Allawi and his co, into important posts that preside the army and police.

Faced with al-Jaafari's rejection of this demand, the Bush administration heightened its irritations more than ever. US imperialists feared that 'a truly independent government' (per al-Sistani) based on the coalition between the Shiites, Sunnites and Kurds would appear under the initiative of the 'United Iraqi Alliance'. If a Shiite-led government will be formed in Iraq with backup from the Iranian government led by Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, no doubt will it demand a timetabled withdrawal of the US occupying forces from the country.

On top of this, in Palestine, a new government is appearing under the leadership of Hamas, which won a landslide victory in the latest parliamentary elections. To this Islamic Resistance Movement also, the Ahmadinejad-led government of Iran has decided to give its supports. Now forming in the Islamic world in the Middle East is a joint front against US imperialism with Iran as its centre (Iran-Iraq-Syria plus Hezbollah in Lebanon). Hu Jintao's China and Putin's Russia are strongly supporting Iran through nuclear and oil developments with the aim to build a world-wide encirclement against the US.

Clearly the Bush administration is now faced with a grand failure in its 'strategy for democratization of the Middle East' (which is connected with its greed for oil resources). In order to violently break through this impasse, the Bush administration perpetrated a grave conspiracy whereby to plunge Iraq into the chaos of civil war. This is a truly desperate attempt of the defeated occupier wriggling out of the quagmire.

Fight now for an international struggle against the Iraq war!

The ill-advised plot by lame duck President George W. Bush is not only unravelling before Iraqi people struggling in unity. It is also fuelling oil to the seething anger of all Muslims in the Middle East.

The Ahmadinejad government of Iran officially stated that the Samarra bombing is 'the act of the defeated occupiers and Zionists'. Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei also alerted Muslims all over the world that 'there are definitely some plots to force Shiites to attack the mosques and other properties respected by the Sunnites' and declared, 'Any measure to contribute to that direction is helping the enemies of Islam and is forbidden by Sharia'. Following these responses from Iranian leaders, statements were issued from Hezbollah and Hamas to denounce the explosion. Indignant voices of denunciation against the US-plotted bombing of the Shiite mausoleum are spreading like wildfire beyond national boundaries and differences in Islamic sects.

Working people in Japan! Toiling masses all over the world!

Denounce the bombing of the Iraqi Shiite mausoleum plotted by the Bush Empire! Denounce the US military occupation of Iraq continued in the name of 'war on terrorists'! Fight against Japan's participation in the US-led coalition forces! Immediately pull the Japanese military out of the Iraqi battlefield!

Muslim people in Iraq! Denounce the plot aimed by Bush Empire to stir up sectarian strife towards a civil war! Organize resolute struggles against US imperialism and the occupying forces on the basis of Islamic inter-nationalism!

Working people all over the world!

Fight now for an international struggle against the Iraq war!
